Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a best practice means of effectively and efficiently assisting clients in making positive changes in their lives. MI techniques utilize empathy and compassion to build rapport with clients. Direct care workers support clients in addressing ambivalence and resistance, helping them move toward change.
DMS offers Motivational Interviewing (MI) training in online and in-person formats, as well as technical assistance or coaching in the integration of MI principles and techniques. It is often helpful to complete the online course to enhance knowledge of MI theory and concepts, while utilizing the in-person workshops to enhance skills and confidence in applying MI techniques. Coaching offers specialized support as the helper implements MI techniques with clients. In addition, DMS provides MI for Supervisors, a unique view of MI offering additional knowledge, skills and confidence to those who manage and/or supervise staff. DMS specializes in customizing workshops to fit our customers’ needs. Please see below for more details, including testimony and workshop results.
